SAGS Nominations

The Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAGS) is often seen as the precursor for the Oscar® nominations for films. The nominations this year brings to the forefront the top films and television shows.

SAGS 2019

The nominees’ nominations are by 121,00 SAG-AFTRA and 2500 Screen Actors Guild and American Federation of Television and Radio Artists members. This year Alan Alda will be the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Awards. The nominations announced by SAG-AFTRA President Gabrielle Carteris introduced Awkwafina and Laverne Cox.

Oscars® Precursor

There are many times that the SAGS are a look into the nominations Oscars®. This year the top films for Oscars look to be A Star Is Born, Black Panther, and Blackkklansman. Bohemian Rhapsody is a film supported by fans and not critics it remains to be seen if this will be enough for an Oscar nominationLast year’s SAGS nominations had 15 out of 20 Academy Award nominations.

The SAGS are Jan. 27, 2019 on both TNT and TBS beginning at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT.
