Escape from the world is at New York Fashion Week. Christian Siriano takes his spring summer 2022 runway on an escape in bold colors back to the 1970s Italian woman.
“In a time when so many of us need an escape from the world, fashion is a great place to explore. For this collection I went back to a simpler time and looked to my past. I was inspired by the Italian women in my life. The old photographs of my grandmother in the 60’s and 70’s on holiday in Positano wearing her apricot orange dress inspired an Italian coastal collection filled with color and joy. I wanted it to feel powerful and strong but also romantic like any true Italian woman. Vintage lace appliques and signature dramatic silhouettes are shown throughout along with cascading evening gowns and sharp tailored suits. I hope this collection transports you like it did me and demonstrates that fashion remains to be both nostalgic but also hopeful for what is to come in the future.” – Christian Siriano
This is the first shows of spring summer 2022. There is inclusive beauty on the runway He presents boldness, volume (SS22 trend), and denim. The beauty of the collection takes you from formal dinner party back to the office. This brings the energy and spirit felt before the pandemic.
Bold colors from lime green, vibrant yellow too bright orange bring a joy to the wearer and those around. The vintage appliques and lace bring the romance into the fashion. This collection is ready for the next great adventure in Italy, red carpet, or a cruise.
The evening wear is formal, bright, elegant, and ready to get out from the long year and half. Voluminous sleeves and skits are flirty and fun to play with. The fabric is reminiscent of red carpets past with metallic silks and tulle. The design brings forward a modern flair.
The finale of the show consists of a group of models exclusively revealing a variety of denim pieces from the upcoming collaboration between Christian Siriano and Gloria Vanderbilt Jeans. The presentation brings that need to go shopping for a great pair of denim.
Escape from the World ~ Marina Diamandis
Marina Diamandis (mononymously as Marina) performs live at Gotham Hall in a bold colored fringe sleeves. She opened fashion week singing Ancient Dreams in a Modern Land. Marina is a Welsh singer, songwriter, musician, and record producer.
The attended event well attended. It is great seeing the fashion from the celebrities. The energy is high and excitement fills the room. Conversations linger in the air as everyone reconnects after a long hiatus from fashion week.

Christian Siriano won the 4th season of Project Runway. He is also the award winning CFDA designer. Siriano launched his eponymous collection in 2008 following his studies in London under Vivienne Westwood and Alexander McQueen. In 2012, the first flagship Christian Siriano store opened in NYC and his latest retail venture, “The Curated NYC”, located in the heart of midtown.
Most recently Christian is heralded for leading the PPE charge during the COVID-19 pandemic. His atelier shifted entirely from clothes to masks and to date he and his team have shipped over one million masks to frontline workers in the New York area. 2020 also saw Siriano launch his own digital BRAVO talk show called “SO SIRIANO” which saw him break down all things fashion and pop culture with guests ranging from Drew Barrymore, Leslie Jones, Billy Porter, Ashley Graham, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Sia. The Emmys Red Carpet brought a great selection of fashion and personal style. The colors of the evening include blush, rose gold, green, and red. There was a lot of tulle, taffeta, pleats, and prints. The seasonal mix was strong with summer and fall styling and fashion. The fashion is more formal with some daring moments.
The red carpet is one time to get the glam out and put together a perfect look. There were so many who took the traditional formal look. A few that
Kristen Bell is wearing Laura Taylor & Ryan Holliday-Stevens. It is straight neckline and sleeves sheer sleek modern and edgy. The styling, Nicole Chavez, includes Forever Mark jewels, a simple sweepback for the hair done by Christine Symond, and makeup Amyoresman with a nude sheer gloss.
Millie Bobby Brown is wearing Calvin Klien. This fun pink print dress is just above the ankle showing off her soft pink pointed kitty cat heels. It is off the shoulder with little bows. She accentuated with gold bracelets and rings, and a simple silver necklace.
Sandra Oh is wearing Ralph & Russo plunging neckline with great texture and glitzy with garnet-colored stones along the plunging neckline, waist and sleeves, hair down, and diamonds on her wrist.
Heidi Klum brings all the stops in Zac Posen pastel peach strapless dress. This is a wonderful gown for her perfect figure. She accessories with a choker necklace from Lorraine Schwartz. Her glam evening tip is to lay down in the car to keep your dress from wrinkling.

Heavenly bodies walk the red carpet for Met Gala. The celebrities gather for the annual Met Gala (Met Ball) hosted by Anna Wintour, the Vogue editor. The yearly event is held the first Monday in May. This event is a fundraiser for the Metropolitan Art’s Costume Institute. It is rumored that this may be the last one hosted by Wintour. This year’s theme Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.
Wintour and her daughter looked lovely for the evening event. Wintour dressed in Chanel with a frock featuring a halter neck and beautiful beading. Her daughter Bee Shaffer wore a red Valentino haute couture gown by Pierpaolo Piccioli. Each accessorized with crosses on a red clutch and beautiful necklace. Wintour chairs this event each year since 1995. The evening co-hosted by a fashion all-star lineup of Rihanna, Amal Clooney, and Donatella Versace. Wintour’s galas are the top social event in New York City. Guests are invited personally by Wintour and staff at Vogue assist with the evening preparation. This year was one filled with some controversy, but gorgeous fashion.
The theme for the evening was one that brought creativity and exceptional fashion. The costume exhibit this season examines how fashion designers have been influenced by Catholic aesthetics. The theme went from religious influences in fashion to focus on Catholicism. This was adjusted when the curator decided that focusing on religious influences was too much for one show. The Catholic church not unhappy with the art collection and has donated pieces for the art show. The annual show at the museum dictates the theme and dress code for the evening.
The celebrities hit the red carpet with great creations of fashion, style, and makeup. Versace was popular fashion. Donatella Versace wore a design of her own that is sexy and gorgeous in a beautiful ornately embroidered coat and dress navy and gold boots. This was perfect for the evening. Her boots were fabulous. There were many celebrities wearing Versace at the Met Gala. This is appropriate because the fashion house being in Italy and often includes catholic religion in their fashion. The celebrities wearing Versace include:
Rihanna brought some controversy with her dress like the Pope. She wore a gem-encrusted Margiela mini-dress and matching coat, and a giant mitre. Amal Clooney one of the best dressed of the night. She wore cigarette pants with a strapless foil top and a train that flowed from the waist. This is a modern take on the mother Mary. The fashion continued with the theme throughout the evening. The inspiration for the Met Gala includes Cardinals, Mother Mary, art, and elegant embellishments. The evening was full of crosses and other religious symbols. The evening was awe-inspiring.

Screen Actors Guild presents the awards to the members of the SAG-AFTRA while celebrating television and film. This award show honors the members that have outstanding performances from film and television in 2017. This is a top industry honor recognizing its members. SAGS held at the Los Angeles Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall. The guest will enter the hall after guests walk past international media and fans along 17,100 square feet of red carpet. Badgley Mischka presents a collection at New York Fashion Week. It has been a little while since they produced a collection walk the runway. Last year instead of a runway collection they were on a book tour. “Badgley Mischka: American Glamour,” we had the honor of meeting with them during this time.
They discussed the runway and creating a collection. Runway designing compares to a wedding 6 months of really hard work and in five minutes it is over. It is exhilarating to see the full design and styling. Mark Badgley said, “it is like seeing your daughter on her wedding day.” They love the runway part of the fashion world.
This collection takes women back to a time when things were tough and how they power through these times. The collection takes silhouettes from the 1940s. A time in history that required women to power through tremulous times.
The collections take nipped waists, a sense of armor with the use of beads, and jewels, longer hems, and voluminous skirts. They do have the seasonal trends with embroidered flowers, red roses, play with the sleeves, and the color red. There is a real modern pull from the 1940s silhouettes.
Badgley and Mischka continues the tradition of exceptional details. They are known for their beading and embellishments; it is all in the details. The inspiration for their beading comes from jewelry. Many dresses may have up to 30,000 beads, beaded by old men in India. They consider themselves magpies when it comes to their beading collections.
This collection included everyday wear from tracksuits to cashmere coats with sleek pants. The designer did not take from their glamorous woman even with flats.
Every woman who wears Badgley Mischka will be super glamorous with comfort and modern sensibility (sizes to 16 on the website). This collection adds a sense of empowerment. These designs will grace red carpets, social gatherings, and on the streets.The designers demonstrated that it is all in the details at Badgley Mischka.
