The the 28th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards® nominations announcement was with Rosario Dawson (Dopesick, Go-Big Show) and Vanessa Hudgens (tick, tick…BOOM!, The Princess Switch) announce the nominees on Instagram Live.
Snubs, Surprises, and Underdogs
There were many interesting twists and turns for this year’s nominations. Many nominations brings a sense of wonder to the Oscar nominations on February 8, 2022.
West Side Story a Golden Globe top winners was awarded 1 nominations.
CODA the first time a predominantly Deaf cast for Best Ensemble.
House of Gucci top film nominee for 2022 SAG® Awards with 3 nominations.
The Power of the Dog top film nominee for 2022 SAG® Awards with 3 nominations.
Succession top TV nominees for 2022 SAG® Awards with 5 nominations.
Ted Lasso top TV nominees for 2022 SAG® Awards with 5 nominations.
Kristen Stewart has a SAGS® snub for her performance as Princess Diana.
Lifetime Achievement Award
This year’s SAG Awards will also honor Helen Mirren with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Mirren states, “I am honored to have been chosen to receive the SAG Life Achievement Award®,” said Mirren. “Since I was a young
actor starting out, I have always been inspired by and learned from American screen acting, so this award is particularly meaningful for me.”
Her current work is Golda in the title role of Golda Meir. She is also set to host Harry Potter: Hogwarts Tournament
of Houses, a four-part competition series.
SAG-AFTRA® President Fran Drescher said, “Dame Helen Mirren is quite simply a brilliant and luminous talent. Her work runs the gamut of characters from a not-so-retired CIA super-killer and a ruthless Russian spy handler to a Hungarian cleaning lady and the most exquisite Elizabeth II. She has set the bar very high for all actors and, in role after role, she exceeds even her own extraordinary performances. I’ve always felt a kinship with Helen. She’s the Queen of England and I’m the Queen of Queens.”
