Savory Pancake Brunch

Savory Pancke Brunch
Bring pancakes to your brunch as a savory dish.

We all love the sweet pancake with maple syrup great childhood memories at the campfire flipping pancakes. Bring pancakes to your brunch as a savory dish.

Roasted corn with spring peas is a great brunch dish this season. Bring this combination to your Sunday brunch.

Recipe

Roasted Corn Pancakes with Spring Pea Puree Poached Egg with Roasted Corn Aioli

Spring Pea Puree (make the day before and reheat)

2 TBSP Olive Oil

1 shelled fresh or frozen peas

2 cloves garlic

1 small onion chopped

1/4 cup broth (chicken or vegetable broth)

1 TBSP Chopped Parsley

2 TBSP Lemon Juice

2 tsp. fresh mint leaves (1 tsp. fresh mint chopped)

2 TBSP Cold Butter

Sea Salt/Ground Pepper

In a sauce pan over medium heat oil until hot. Add the peas, onions, and garlic until softened. Fresh peas 1 to 2 minutes froze peas 3 to 4 minutes. Add the broth cook until the peas are tender. Remove from the heat add the parsley.

Place in the a blender or use an immersion blender. Add the butter blend till puree. Add the mint, dash of salt and pepper blend well.

Roasted Corn Aioli (can be made the day before)

1 TBSP lemon juice

1 Tsp. lemon zest

2 cloves of garlic

2 eggs

2 TBSP Parsley

1 Tsp. Dijon mustard

1/4 Tsp. Salt

1/8 Tsp. cayenne pepper

1 cup olive oil more may be needed

2 ears of roasted corn (remove kernels from cob)

Combine all ingredients except for the olive oil and corn kernels in a bowl of a food process until smooth. Slowly add the olive oil through the feeding tube while processor is running. This will create a consistency of mayonnaise when all the oil is added. It may need a little more to reach the consistency needed. Transfer to a bowl and fold in the roasted corn in the aioli. Can be store for up to a week in the refrigerator.

Corn Pancakes

3/4 cup unbleached all-purpose flour

1/2 cup cornmeal

1 Tsp. baking powder

3/4 Tsp. salt

1 TBSP sugar

1 large egg separated (yolk slightly beaten) (egg white beaten stiff)

1 1/4 cup buttermilk

1 TBSP Canola or Olive Oil

1 jalapeno seeded, deveined, and chopped if heat desired)

1 Tsp. cilantro

1 ear roasted corn (remove kernels from cob)

1 Tsp. butter for cooking

Combine the flour, cornmeal, baking powder, salt, and sugar in a large bowl. Whisk together the egg yolk, buttermilk, and oil in a medium bowl. Mix dry ingredients well with wet ingredients. Stir in corn. Gently fold in whipped egg.

Add a pat of butter to a griddle. Heat over medium heat. When the surface is hot pour 1/4 cup of batter to form 5 inch pancake. Cook until bubbles form on the top surface. Flip and cook the other side until cooked through, 2 to 3 minutes.

Poached Eggs (can use a medium over egg, yolk needs to be runny)

6 Eggs

2 TBSP vinegar/rice vinegar

Bring a large pot of water to almost a boil. Add the vinegar, which will help the eggs set.

Swirl the simmering water, and then gently crack each egg into a small bowl and release right above the surface of the water. This is very important in order to present them from breaking and to achieve proper consistency.

Remove the pot from the heart, cover and let stand until the egg whites are fully cooed and the egg looks like a smooth ball about 4 minutes. You want the yolk to be runny.

Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on a paper towel lined plate.

To serve place the corn pancake on a serving plate, dollop about 1 TBSP of spring pea puree, top with poached egg (over medium egg) drizzle with roasted corn aioli. Top with sprigs of mint and black pepper.

Note you can make variations on this recipe

You can use mashed avocados in place of the peas

Add smoked salmon, Canadian Bacon, or half slices of bacon placed on top of pea puree or avocados.

Enjoy.

Oscars® Red Carpet MakeUp Tips

Oscars® Red Carpet MakeUp Tips

This is a great time to create a update your beauty with these makeup tips. Time to isolate and stay in, but it does not mean we go from pjs to active wear. Walk away from the Covid-19 looking better than when this started.

Gia Klime shares her Oscar® red carpet makeup tips for you to create that glamorous look even when in quarantine. Share your glam photos using #4chionstyle #quarantabulous #giabellafaces

Red Carpet Makeup Artsit

Well hello once again beauties, the pleasure is all mine. I’m so happy to give you another one of my reviews for the products I used and Love for The Oscars®.

Get super excited queens and add some brow, glow, contour, and an all day red lip with that excitement, this that is what this year’s Oscars® we’re all about.

I think the most beautiful look sometimes is a simple eye, contour, and bronze highlight with a stronger brow. Oh yes, ladies we can’t forget the lashes. I use Lilly Lashes on my clients, favorite ever.

@nini_4_u Supermodel and @weareroyals , queen. Jewelry by he amazing @loveandbones.ca

Steps to that Oscar® red carpet look make-up:

Red Carpet Skin Care

1. Prep skin with moisturizer and eye cream

2. Primer

Red Carpet Foundation Makeup Tips

3. I always apply L’Oreal Paris Makeup True Match Lumi Glotion Natural Glow Enhancer Highlighting all over the face. Today I used color 904, deep bronze. This brings life, glow, and a sun-kissed gitz and glam look.

4. Foundation makes sure that it is dewy and hydrating. Stay away from the matte look and powder. This look causes an aging affect. Hollywood beauties do not like aged skin.

Red Conturing and Highlighter Makeup Tips

5. Go straight to the amazing Cover Fx Monochromatic Bronzer. Two steps because at the Oscars Time is of the essence. Use the bronzer as a contour I love this color it’s very warm and looks good on all skin tones.

a. Angle brush applying under the cheekbones building slowly as desired.

b. Blend the hairline upwards as well.

c. Make sure to blend around the edges around your chin. Bam perfection.

6. Use the highlighter and when applying from temple and right above cheekbone. Not to close to the eyes. This is that simple yes, but pure elegance.

7. Take a little of the highlighter use it as a highlighter under the brow and sweep softly across lid and call it a red carpet look.

My Favorites  I used for The Red Carpet . Must haves.
Red Carpet Lip Color Makeup Tips

8. Red lip. Loving once again all of our favorites as artists for the awards. L’Oréal Paris Makeup Rouge Signature Matte Lip Stain has a superb texture and the color is so universal.

a. Skip the liner.

b. Use the awesome applicator tip as your guide to line the lip color then color in the rest of the lip. You can call it a red carpet lip.

Red Carpet Brows and Eyeshadow Makeup Tips

8. Keep your brows strong but soft. Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow definer is my favorite to use on clients that do not have much hair. Go the opposite direction In light feathery strokes. It’s easier to see the technique I use then to explain it. There taupe color is so beautiful for many.

9. Check your shade; make sure you match your own brow hair.

10. Then last but not least, the most important. Those lashes. They complete the whole glitz and glam red carpet look.

Model Zahira

Red Carpet Makeup Tips Wrap Up

There you beauties have it. My must haves on what I love and use, and my tips on how too.

Now find somewhere to go and shine like the beautiful royal queens you all are. Until next time, best to you all. Gia Klime. MUA. Instagram @giabellafaces

Glamorous Make-Up

L’Oréal Glamourous

L’Oréal make-up has been a staple on the red carpet for so many years. Being in this industry and working with so many other pros we have known that the quality of L’Oréal make-up is superb.
We all own and use so many of these products for our Hollywood celebrity clients. The key to our clients and the red carpet are as follows. It’s all about the first foundation that looks like skin, but covers imperfections, and does not make the skin crack or look aged, or dry. Tough one right?
Well here enters L’Oréal True Match Lumi. Problem no more, 40 percent of water and vitamin C, they know how to make it happen ladies. My clients, I work with for fashion shows and the red carpet will tell you I create magic. The magic is in the foundation and this foundation is outstanding. 5-star red carpet worthy. Hollywood glowing healthy skin, that’s what I create with this must-have product. The shades are so beautiful, colors are available for all skin types. Never pulls orange after it’s been on the skin, and never settles into fine lines.

Red carpet Beauty Tip
Glowing on the Red Carpet
Glamourous Skin

It literally melts into the skin mimicking your own skin but better. Giving you that coverage but not sacrificing the look you are trying to achieve on the red carpet, which is healthy fresh flawless skin. The consistency of this foundation is fabulous and deserves its own Golden Globe.
My celebrity clients think I have the magic, but the magic is in this product. It’s a definite must for everyone. Affordable for all which is even better. Like icing on the cake.
The next favorite I used for my clients at the Golden Globes show is L’Oréal Pro Glo corrector and concealer, another 5-star red carpet Golden Globe worthy must-have product. Now, you are probably thinking how is that possible for something at such a low price point? Ok this one everyone can relate to. The under-eye area is a very delicate area that is the first to see the signs of aging, dark circles, puffiness, and crepey loose skin. Well, that cannot happen on awards night.

Red Carpet Glamourous

Celebrity queens in front of the cameras, pictures, press, interviews. No time for those annoying imperfection. Here enters, my hero. Saves the day, it is 14-hour to wear, and buildable. L’Oréal Pro Glo correcting and concealer. It’s so hydrating and the texture is so superb that it never looks heavy and dry under the eye. It also photographs beautiful, matching the rest of the skin. My clients do not have the dreaded raccoon eyes. It is so hard to find a product to do this without settling again into lines, especially under the eye. Well, look no further. I am bringing Hollywood looks to all of you beautiful ladies out there, by sharing my tips on things I use on the shows. Oh yes, the best part, price. Anyone can have this item as well. Major affordable, but the quality is impeccable.  Use this product with a flat concealer brush, and don’t tug. Press outward gently as you apply. Because if you have puffiness And you press outward only, you will help to move that fluid out of the area it likes to hang out in.  Key point guys. Oh yes, my queens, this product is also great to highlight cheekbones, inner corner of eyes and tip of the nose. For the real Hollywood glam glow. These are my choices and must-haves to start out your 2020 to a new younger-looking you. P.S. This is what I’m wearing in my photo featured here. God bless, your all-stars your all beautiful. The Golden Globe goes to All of us. Until my next review, be the beautiful best you are. Best always.  Gia Klime.

Vegan Dinner for the 77th Golden Globes

Vegan Dinner for the 77th Golden Globes

Vegan Dinner for the 77th Golden Globes. Setting a dynamic dinner for the elite of Hollywood is always a challenge. This year for the first time the Golden Globes has asked the Beverly Hilton chefs to create a completely plant-based menu.

Vegan Golden Globes Dinner 4chion Lifestyle
Menu Golden Globe Awards

Vegan Menu Decision

The last year we have seen an increase in plant-based food from the Impossible and Awesome Burger. “For the first time the meal served to our guests will be entirely plant-based, a way to focus awareness on the need to countenance sustainable lifestyles as our world moves towards climate and environmental insecurity.” The menu has no meat or dairy in any dish. The Golden Globes takes the challenge and brings a star-studded menu.

King Oyster Mushrooms Vegan Dinner

Vegan Menu

The celebrities attending the Golden Globes this year will find a glamourous filling dinner. The menu includes:

  • The appetizer is chilled golden beet soup. This is prepared with shaved candy-striped beets, citrus oil, pistachio, micro chervil, and amaranth
  • The entrée will be “scallops” made from king oyster mushrooms, served with wild-mushroom risotto, roasted baby purple, and green brussels sprouts, globe carrots, and pea tendrils.
  • The dessert is a “Vegan Opera Dome,” with choco brilliance, praline gunaja crumble, caramelized hazelnuts, and passion crispy.

Vegan Menu Changes

Executive pastry chef Thomas Henzi discusses making a beautiful cake without the use of gelatin, eggs, milk, or butter. This is a completely plant-based pastry. “It is a bit different when coming to pastries. You have to always learn new things,” Henzi states.

Executive chef Matthew Morgan says, “It is exciting to be a part of it. The statement that it is making is extremely important.” The menu looks to be as fancy as years past and the celebrities should have plenty to eat and drink.

7 Winter Fashion Trends to Keep On Your Radar

7 Winter Fashion Trends to Keep On Your Radar

It seems like only yesterday when the fashion world was having a field day with fall’s unapologetic florals, giant bags, and pointed shoes. But with winter now in full swing, we’re welcoming a new set of “It” clothes, some refreshed styles, and seasonal colors.

Whether you’re looking to jump on the bandwagon or simply need new outfit ideas, here are some winter fashion trends to keep on your radar.

Fair Isle

Named after the tiny island in northern Scotland where it originated from, fair isle is a knitting technique used to create patterns with various colors. Despite its humble beginnings, fashion experts Creators Syndicate have labeled it as the pattern of the year. While typically found on sweaters, it can also be seen on turtlenecks, cardigans, and knit dresses.

Capes

Last winter, it was all about futuristic fashion and shiny fabrics, as seen in February’s New York Stock Exchange 2018 collection. This year, brands are still focusing on luxe and dramatics but with a twist. No longer reserved for comic books, capes have found their way to high-fashion runways and store racks. They’re actually easier to style than you think, like this cream cape from Goodnight Macaroon paired with skinny jeans and heels.

Leather Trench Coats

Trench coats have always been a winter favorite, but we’re now seeing them take center stage as a statement piece, instead of ordinary outerwear. Take your cue from Amal Clooney who was spotted donning a trench coat, in full leather. Even if it came in a seemingly neutral brown, she proved that trench coats can very much elevate your entire outfit.

Structured Pants

Despite how tempting it is to live in your cozy pajamas in this cold weather, a sleek pair of pants will add something a little extra to your wardrobe. With all the bulky coats and slouchy sweaters you’ll be wearing, you’ll need to balance it out when it comes to your bottoms. These straight-leg pants from Woman Within come in a sophisticated yet casual silhouette that will look great with a loose top or outerwear. Bonus: they come in soft cotton to mimic the comfort of sweatpants, so no need to worry about feeling stiff.

Tonal Dressing

If you’re not too keen on mixing and matching, then you can simply keep it streamlined with tonal colors. Just because it’s tonal, doesn’t mean you have to stick to monotone blacks and browns. You can totally pull off an all-pastel outfit if you want. The trick is to keep everything in the same color family, so you should try combining different shades of purple, green, red, or any other hue that’s popular this time of year.

Rubber Sole Boots

With all that snow lining the sidewalks, heels are perhaps the most uncomfortable footwear choices you can make. Instead, it’s time to bust out the rubber sole boots, as they’re incredibly practical. Fashion writer Andrea Hannah explains that rubber soles are great at keeping water out, so feel free to dive into the snow as you please.

Fur Bags

No other piece screams “holiday fashion” than fur garments. And this year, it’s all about fur bags. These statement pieces are incredibly chic and can instantly upgrade your look. If you don’t want to go for full fur, you can always go for accessories lined with shearling, with this purse from Chanel as a classic example.

And there you have it! Whether you’re the type to play with textures or keep it simple, this year’s winter trends will definitely have something for you. That way, you’ll be strutting into those holiday parties in style.

Ben Stiller and Jamie Lee Curtis

Sean James gives us insight into the trademark short hair of the beautiful and sexy Jamie Lee Curtis. He is the hairstyle for Curtis for the upcoming Rian Johnson film, Knives Out, and her 2019 Golden Globes red carpet phenomenon.

Jamie Lee Curtis’ Hairstyle LA Premier

Sean James, the hairstylist to the famous Jamie Lee Curtis, provides 4Chion Lifestyle an exclusive insight into her gorgeous hair. He states, “I’m so excited to share, the look I did for, Curtis for the LA premiere of Knives Out the megacast whodunnit thriller.
In the movie Curtis’ character, Linda Drysdale Thrombey, wears a bleach blonde platinum perfect look that I created for her at Matthew Preece Salon using Neo Bond hair protector, and Wella Blondor Toning with a mix of 9 level toners by shades EQ, it was styled on set with stylus hair care and FHI Heat tools supplied to the incredible hair and makeup team Luisa Abel makeup and Kelvin Trajan hair .
For Curtis’ red carpet look for the LA premiere last night, I used the chrome 2000 Blowdryer by FHI Heat and High Altitude Root Lift by Stylus Hair Care, round brushing it, to add volume and shape complimenting her beautiful face. To give hold the look and make sure it has volume and a punky attitude all night I used the ‘stay styled ‘ hair spray by Stylus Hair Care. Curtis’ favorite hairbrush is the FHI Heat Unbrush.”

Sean James Hair Stylist to the Celebrities

Sean James Hairstylist to the Celebrities

We first met James when he did a segment with FNL at YouTube space. He is often found in our seasonal beauty features. His passion is his talent and his talent is his passion. He creates a vision and makes that vision come to reality in hair. His ability to understand each person not just their hair but their personal style and personality makes his art as individual as those he works with.

James is from Australia and has settled in the beautiful area of Venice Beach. His talent has graced runways, Oscar-nominated films, televisions, a trusted panelist, and believes in giving back to the community.

He continues to increase his knowledge and talent with continued training with brands like L’Oreal, Redken, and Phyto University as well as product reviews. He even has talent in wig making. While he is busy with celebrities he still has time for his regular salon clientele. List of regular clients includes Jamie Lee Curtis, Chris Hardwick, Al Yankovich, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Phil Keoghan, Eugene Levy, Dylan and Cole Sprouse, Teddy Thompson,  Rufus Wainwright, Chris Stills, and many others.

Jamie Lee Curtis’

Curtis is a very talented actress we have covered on many occasions. She says about this film, “They will have a good time. A great movie. The puzzle pieces will come together in the delightful way of ‘I got this but then you don’t have it.’

She goes on to say, “Clearly this is a movie built for Thanksgiving weekend. If you want to ever make a movie about a dysfunctional family and then be able to take your dysfunctional family to see the movie, it’s this movie. It is a perfect family comedy.”

Jamie Lee Curtis Linda Character Poster

Her character, Linda Drysdale Thrombey, fashion and style for this film is an old school elegance. She centers the looks for this film around a Verdura Jewelry bracelet, seen in her poster for the film. The jewelry company founded in 1939 by Duke Fulco di Verdura, the jeweler is known for its timeless, elegant and distinctly original designs.

Thrombey, Curtis’ character in the film, is the eldest surviving child (is this a clue to the film??). She finds herself, much like real life, the center of the family, the cheerleader. A fun fact she lived in the kitchen, the center of the family life, of the home they filmed in for 2 months.

Curtis’ roles include Halloween (1978), Trading Places (1983), Perfect (1985) and A Fish Called Wanda (1988), True Lies (1994), for which she won a Golden Globe Award for her performance and many more.

From Harlan’s dysfunctional family to his devoted staff, Blanc sifts through a web of red herrings and self-serving lies to uncover the truth behind Harlan’s untimely death. With an all-star ensemble cast including Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael Shannon, Don Johnson, Toni Collette, LaKeith Stanfield, Katherine Langford, and Jaeden Martell, KNIVES OUT is a fun, witty and stylish whodunit guaranteed to keep audiences guessing until the very end.
