Our fascinations with the green country began as a child with the breakfast cereal “Lucky Charms” and the commercials of the leprechaun chasing the pot o’ gold. It continued into adulthood with the blockbuster movies “PS, I Love You” and “Leap Year.” Ireland quickly rose to the top of our bucket list of a place we had to visit.
Our journey began with a quick stop in Dublin, so we could explore the old world charm of this capital city. We selected a hotel in the main area of Stephen’s Green, which placed us in the heart of the districts, renowned for shopping, fashion, art, culture, theater and of course we can not forget, the infamous pubs, each with its own eclectic personality. Our hotel and suite were immersed with charm and character neatly tucked away on the famed Grafton Street.
We spent the afternoon strolling in the Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre, an outdoor/indoor high-end shopping area, which is complete with every international fashion brand and an area with historic pubs, where locals and tourist venture out to find the perfect Guinness. We celebrated our arrival that night with a traditional Irish dinner at The Old Mill, in the cultural center, known as the infamous Temple Bar. This area is visited daily by millions of tourists and when you have made it here, you feel the pulse of Dublin. Our meal consisted of fish and chips and lamb shank, recommended by the chef, as our way to taste the real Ireland.
The next morning we awoke early to visit the Saint Patrick’s Cathedral on our way out of Dublin and off to the Rock of Dunamase Castle. The sunrise was stunning and captured the essence of the cathedral, despite our small mishaps navigating our selfie stick.
The Rock of Dunamase are ruins that were highlighted in the movie “Leap Year” and so we wanted to explore their history. Located just outside Portlaoise and about a 3-hour drive from Dublin, is one of Ireland’s most inspiring spots, yet not often traveled to by tourists. The Rock of Dunamase consists of the ruins of what used to be Dunamase Castle. We hiked up to the top and took in the spectacular views of the lush green fields and the Slieve Bloom Mountains in the distance. If there’s anything that makes the Irish countryside even more beautiful, it is the jagged bits of the castle rising out of the ground. We visited the church at the foot of the castle ruins and then continued our journey onward.
Later that day, we arrived at our final destination for our trip to Ireland, Belleek Castle. Our first glimpse of the castle was driving into thousand-year-old guard gate, miles outside the entrance, which at one time in history surrounded the village. Upon entering the long drive to the front of the castle, we were transported to an enchanted forest that surrounds the magnificent grounds. Driving through the woods you can’t help but hear the mysterious sounds and imagine the years of soldiers, royal successions and loyal subjects that had one time traveled this same path to the imposing front lawn and entrance to Belleek Castle.
Upon our arrival, we were given the royal treatment, greeted with a red carpet and a champagne toast by our lovely host and hostess, Paul Doran and Maya Nicoleva , along with an itinerary of activities fit for a king.; actually two kings! As members of the staff at the castle organized our suite, we quickly changed into our hunting gear and were escorted to the bogs on the other side of the property with our personal hunting companion, the castle’s very own, Reece, a beautiful, German short-haired Pointer and Paul, who guided us through the many obstacles of the bog, and continued to help us hunt for woodcock and Snipe.
The next morning we ventured out early, driving through the lush, green countryside, on our way to Downpatrick Head. One of the most distinctive features of Ireland are the unique and breathtaking cliffs that protect the country from the sea, and at one time from the enemy propelled to attack. The elements of the wind and water have created their unique mark embedded in the ominous cliffs that surround the Island. In an instant, you are so high above the powerful waves crashing upon the cliffs below you that feel as if you are touching the sky.
Jackson Thomas Carey, the producer at The Motive Productions, brings beats to the world of music. Carey began musical training as a young child and quickly found recreating the musical sounds rewarding. His motivation to continue forward with focus and perseverance.
His musical training directed him to the world of recreating musical instruments a true talent. Carey took his raw talent to these creations. His motivation lead him to work in studios as an intern. He was able to learn and grow his raw talent. This training and talent lead to recreating instrumentals for hip hop. He starts with the beat and layers with synthesizers and drums.
Carey believes that perseverance is the key to success with everything. Knowledge of a better life and a stronger future makes this possible. Knowing a real low point in life makes perseverance steadfastness in doing something despite delaying success.
He knows real struggles and low points in life. Five years ago he began a spiral down with the use of opioid pain pills prescriptions from other people’s scripts. His drug use turned from use of other’s prescriptions to heroin. This turn moved him to a time of selfishness and a life of blinders, not seeing the big picture. He looked only for his next fix and that was the focus of his life. Took his drug abuse to overdosing several times.
Soon Carey released that he was being selfish with his drug use. The journey to take back his life he realized that he was really being a baby about life. That his expectation in life was other’s were to help and do for him. He took the time to conclude he wanted to be a man.
Support came from his family. They took the time to love him but remained strict with their expectations and rules. This turn allowed for Carey to turn the switch back on. He started to see the way and the light.
This time he really is excited about the person he is. This discovery came through self-discovery. Many close to him are seeing his true self-return again. The most important message for him is that he needed to do this for himself. “Drug use is very focused on the moment, the now, Carey says. He learned that he lost a huge chunk of time.”
“Time is rare,” Carey states, “As a child time has no meaning. As an adult time is precious and how much it takes each day to get everything done.” His favorite hip-hop artists include A Tribe Called Quest and The Pharcyde. His interest and talent returned with the new direction and focus in his life. He is again creating beats for musicians. This business started with interest from hip-hop artists hearing his beats and purchasing them.
Carey starts each day with plenty of water and a to-do list. His list consists of ten items to focus on. His works to complete each item each day. He will allow one item to move forward if necessary, but this allows him the motivation to stay focused and persevere.

75th Annual Golden Globes red carpet show a sign of solidarity with a void of color for many celebrities in attendance. Many choose to wear all black in a silent voice against sexual harassment and supporting “TIME’S UP, a unified call for change from women in entertainment for women everywhere.”
This group addresses the inequality and injustice in workplaces for underrepresented groups reaching their full potential. The celebrities wore black as the key to their fashion and styling choices. Many adorned with an accessory pin from the organization.
The red carpet became a real black tie affair. The black theme did not mean a void of personal style. Many celebrities choose textures, trims, makeup, and jewels to carry out their styling. Jessica Biel wore a beautiful haute couture Dior gown with a half-moon over a tulle draping with a soft romantic pink slightly showing through.
The ceremony continued the theme with speeches including Oprah’s acceptance of the Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement. She offers encouragement for the future by stating, ” it will be because of a lot of magnificent women, many of whom are right here in this room tonight, and some pretty phenomenal men, fighting hard to make sure that they become the leaders who take us to the time when nobody ever has to say ‘Me too’ again.” Oprah brought many to tears with her speech supporting the night’s voice against sexual harassment.
Chrissy Metz‘s stylist, Penny Lovell, continued the solidarity look for her with a velvet custom designed off the shoulder wrap clutched with a gorgeous crystal hand-beaded brooch. Accessorizing with Stuart Weitzman shoes, a Jimmy Choo clutch, and jewels from Hueb and Le Vian. The look complete with the powerful pin supporting against sexual harassment.
A few choose to vary from the evening theme with choosing to wear color on the red carpet.
Barabara Meirer states, “A lot of women will wear black tonight to support the Time‘s Up movement. I think this is a great and extremely important initiative! Nevertheless, I decided to wear a colorful dress tonight,” she wrote. “If we want this to be the Golden Globes of the strong women who stand up for their rights, I think, it’s the wrong way not to wear any sexy clothes anymore or let people take away our joy of showing our personality through fashion.” Fashion made a statement this evening and for generations to come. Support was felt in fashion, speeches, and pins throughout the evening. See the full evening photos here.

Meeting Dustin Quick at LA Swim Week 2015 was a fabulous evening. Quick with her husband Medi eM performed the opening act. Quick continued the evening with a great runway showing.
Quick brings solid talent and exceptional beauty to her modeling, acting, and performing. She is always rising above to bring great entertainment to her audiences.
How did your life’s journey bring you to modeling, singing, acting, and performing?
“When I was five, my mother took me to see The King and I at the Omaha Community Playhouse, created by Marlon Brando‘s mother and the Fonda’s. Between the vivid, silk costumes and exotic makeup, my senses were piqued, so once I saw two children actors on stage, I quickly nudged my mom and whispered, ‘How did those kids get up there?’ She replied, ‘I think they had to audition’, so I asked her to take me to the next one which was for, ‘A Christmas Carol’. We showed up to a big room filled with pro-kids and stage moms who had recorded accompaniment or sheet music, we didn’t know to bring anything, so when it was my turn, I sang, ‘Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah’ a cappella with some moves on the fly, and they cast me as the new angel.”
As an entertainer and fashion model, what is one piece of insight would you share?
“Stay in school, #Instafame is fleeting, an education is an asset that you can trust in for life.”
You released a new music video. What can we expect with this song and video?
“Medi eM is a guitarist/composer, I write and sing the lyrics, and on this song, ‘Heartbeat‘ we both sing about what happened when we found each other. When two heart cells are near each other, they start synchronizing their beat, so Medi fused his flamenco and house music backgrounds to create a tribal rhythm that gets hips shaking, together. The video is a symbolic story of us, our love freed each other, and set our hearts on fire.”
What is the one thing you do each morning to start off your day?
“I open the curtains in front of our bed which looks out to our fruit trees, I’ve seen a mockingbird feed her babies (I call her Mama Rockingbird), put the tea on, and then curl up with Medi in bed, and we watch the political satire that aired the night before together. “
When was there a time when an event went from stress to best?
“Yes! I was asked to model the finale look for these gorgeous couture hats. The incredibly talented millinery (hat designer), Annette Higgins picked the perfect dresses to compliment her creations, and my gown was a gorgeous full, floor-length satin strapless number to match her biggest hat ever, in a luscious shape and classic red. The only problem is that my torso is just naturally built more narrow than most (designer Sue Wong affectionately says that I’m size, ‘sub-zero’), and as a result, strapless dresses end up becoming belts on me. Now, this show had grand steps coming down to the runway, so I’m backstage quietly trying to figure how I wasn’t going to face-plant for the grand finale. I tried puffing out my chest and then wrapped a padded bra around underneath to keep the dress up, and clinching the strap built inside the dress for support, all to no avail. This is when I start lamenting myself for not bringing my taller heels. I was freaking out internally because I didn’t know how I was going to be able to walk in the show without becoming a YouTube fail. So I prayed, and the inspiration came to me to draw from flamenco dancing and hold the dress up like a bullfighting femme fatal enticing her mark to tango with her. The crowd applauded, the designer loved it, and I got to feel like I was in a Fellini film.”
Working fashion shows what is a typical day start to finish?
“My call time is usually 4 hours before showtime, so that morning I eat, shower, pack my bag, do my nails, rush out the door and race to the runway Once hair and makeup is done, I get dressed carefully, line-up, wait (this industry is the genesis of the phrase, ‘fashionably late’), strut like I mean it, red carpet photos with the designer, and then find Medi!”
An image is an important addition to the rise in selfies what is one focus you think could improve a person’s image?
“I actually don’t care for basic solo selfies, but I know people take them sitting in their car because it’s good angle and lighting. However, unless it’s a dope car, or you just passed your driver’s license, it’s too common, so I would focus on replicating that angle and lighting that reveals more of the person’s imagination.”

You present a great cohesive style. How did you discover your personal style?
“Awe thank you, well I’ve been passionate about fashion since I was pre-school I only wanted to wear silk, satin nothing too cutesy like big buttons, denim or dresses without waistlines. Although I was otherwise a really good kid, honestly the only time I ever got upset was when my mother or sister had me wear something I didn’t like. One winter my mother had understandably forced jeans on me, I took them off in the car on the way to the sitter’s house, and ran out in the snow pant-less because I didn’t want to wear ‘boy clothes’. My mother is a traveler, so she took me with her to Spain when I was 6 and fell in love with a long Flamenco dress, I kindly pleaded for her to buy it, I wore that gown from when it was too long on me too when it became skirt length. Throughout school I was known for wearing unique outfits, from hats every day for a year (including a raspberry beret), lime green patent leather heels, to a long body-con velveteen leopard print Betsy Johnson dress (and years later I met her backstage right before I was going on the runway what a vibrant fabulous force she is!) I have since learned to appreciate denim, and have traded in the outrageous for more body-con and couture, but the passion is still there.”
What is one winter fashion/beauty tips you use?
“For winter fashion, accessories keep functional layers exciting, so Obelo Jewelry, Ronaldo Designer Jewelry, and Artizan by Robin Barre are my goto’s for interesting statement pieces. As for beauty, although I use Sunless Beauty Organic Spray Tanning and self-tanner throughout the year, in winter it’s obviously more essential I love that it’s organic and it smells like dessert. I’ve also fallen in love with TNT Agency for make-up, and I will be wearing all of them to award season and on New York Fashion Week runways in the new year.”
Quick will continue rising with appearances on red carpets, runways, and more during the upcoming year.

Epicurious has a perfect Beet Risotto recipe for your Golden Globe party.
4 teaspoons white wine or Champagne vinegar, divided, plus more
3 tablespoons heavy cream
4 tablespoons coarsely chopped parsley, divided
2 ounces fresh goat cheese crumbled or parmesan cheese (optional)
PREPARATION
Bring broth and 5 cups water to a boil in a large pot over high heat. Reduce heat to low and gently simmer.
Meanwhile, peel beets, then coarsely shred using a food processor fitted with the shredder attachment or the large holes of a box grater.
Heat a large wide pot or sauté pan over medium-high. Cook butter and oil, stirring occasionally, until butter melts. Add onion and sauté until softened and translucent, about 5 minutes. Add beets, 1 tsp. salt, and 1/2 tsp. pepper and sauté until tender, about 10 minutes more.
Add rice and cook, stirring constantly, about 2 minutes, then add 1 1/2 cups broth, 3 tsp. vinegar, and 1 tsp. salt. Reduce heat to medium and simmer, stirring constantly, until liquid has evaporated. Continue adding broth, 3/4 cup at a time as the rice absorbs liquid, stirring constantly and simmering until rice is tender, 30–40 minutes; season with 1 tsp. salt and 1/2 tsp. pepper halfway through. About 2 minutes before rice is al dente, add cream, 2 Tbsp. parsley, remaining 1 Tsp. vinegar, 1/2 tsp. salt, and 1/4 tsp. pepper.
Divide among 4 plates or bowls, then top with goat cheese, if using, and remaining 2 Tbsp. parsley.
The film takes two different generations and puts them together at a time when their lives are struggling. They must overcome their differences in age, personality, and more. The journey takes them to become best friends while supporting each other’s dreams.
The script develops from Mentz’s visit with Gwen Davis, the author. He personally delivers a keyboard he sold to her on Craigslist. The visit became an all-day adventure with cookies, tea, and scrapbooks. She told stories about hanging out in a place with the likes of Marilyn Monroe and Cary Grant. Butler developed the screenplay after an evening of Mentz regaling the day’s adventures. Davis’ stories and life inspire her.
Mentz states, “We wanted to bring this message to the foreground, that relationships whether romantic or platonic do not have to be in the same age group. Relationships in different generations are not really discussed.” The movie takes on generational struggles and friendships that help with making dreams come true.
Fall, actress Elaine Partnow, brings a lot to the role. Mentz says, “She brought the character to life much more than we could ever imagine.” Partnow brings Fall to life with details that are specific to Fall’s her generation. Partnow presents the need to be private and dressing up before leaving the house. Just a few details Partnow presents throughout the film that bring her generation to light.
Adam, actor Jesse Pepe, presents with his own story and struggle from the start. His past is still very present. This takes precedence over Adam and Fall’s each dream. Adam was not onboard with Fall’s concept of dreaming in life,
