Nineteenth-Century Futuristic Fashion ~ Calvin Klein

Nineteenth-Century Futuristic Fashion ~ Calvin Klein

Calvin Klein’s chief creative officer, Raf Simons, brings the past and the future together for autumn winter 2018. Simons presents a runway reminiscent of a 19th-century farm with futuristic clothing at the New York Stock Exchange.

The runway presents to take the audience a back to a time when winters were harsh and required survivability. The fashion brings a strong sense of winter and cold. The sweaters are an upgrade from the big loose sweaters to a more tight-fitting look.

The menswear in the collection has the stylish dual squared button-secured front pockets and larger collars. There is a strong layering continuing with turtlenecks and several coats on some of the models.

The coats for the collection come from the firefighter coats they wear when fighting a fire. They are longer to cover more during the long cold winter days. The accessories include stocking ski caps that are hand-woven cover the head, ears, and some of the face. Gloves are a nice addition. They cover mid-forearm for continued protection from the winter winds. The runway, covered with popcorn, adds to the sense of a fluffy winter wonderland.

The womenswear runway collection brings a strong futuristic feel to the 19th-century clothing. Taking the older cuts and fabrics bringing them to the modern world. A favorite women’s piece is one where the older collar cut and the fabric made into a sexy pantsuit.

Simons, a Belgian fashion designer, continues to change the look and feel of Calvin Klein. His shows continue to be the talk of the town and a big influence. He takes bold statements and stories creating a collection that is a strong runway. He is challenging fashion in new ways.  He states, “I don’t want to show clothes, I want to show my attitude, my past, present, and future. I use memories and future visions and try to place them in today’s world.” He has accomplished that with this autumn winter 2018 collection.

Zimmermann ~ Victorian Wild West Earth Tones Hit NYFW Runway

Zimmermann ~ Victorian Wild West Earth Tones Hit NYFW Runway

Zimmermann hits the New York Fashion Week (NYFW) autumn-winter 2018 runway with a dedication to the earth, Victorian, and strong women. This fashion collection takes a step to Westworld with the tones, colors, unbridled beauty,  and western styling.

Zimmermann NYFW 4Chion Lifestyle FW18 c
Zimmermann NYFW FW18

The collection brings a strong sense of powerful women during the Victorian period. The fabrics include wool, sartorial, and buttery leather. These fabrics brought a masculinity feel while keeping it feminine the strong presence.

The styling is very earthly taking a woman to the strength she possesses and the power to embrace the freedoms a woman should enjoy. Hats tie over the shoulder, bomber jackets, riding pants, shearling coats, over the knee boots, and the glamorous boots show her soft feminine side while being tough for what the wilderness hold.

Zimmermann NYFW 4Chion Lifestyle FW18
Zimmermann NYFW FW18

The designs are strong Victorian with a hint of the 1980s. The earth tones draw in the southwestern US and soft colors bring a romance to the fashion. This collection brings a strong modern edge to the old. Nicky Zimmermann takes a little step from her traditional bohemian fashion, but there are hints if you look real close to some of the pieces you will see the ruffles and crocheting. Simple and pure really add to the earthy look.

This collection will bring ready-to-wear and simplicity to your fall-winter fashion.

1 mango, diced
1/4 purple onion, diced
1/2 cup cilantro, chopped
1/2 cup tomatoes, chopped
1 Jalapeño, finely chopped and deveined
Juice from 2 limes
Pink Himalayan Salt, to taste
4 4.0 oz Sea Base filets
1 1/2 tablespoon extra-virgin or coconut oil
salt, to taste
1 sprig of fresh thyme
1 cup dried quinoa
2 cups water

What You’ll Need To Know

Combine 1 cup quinoa with 2 cups water in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat to low, and simmer until quinoa is tender, about 15-20 minutes. Remove from heat and let is sit for 5 minutes. After it has cooked and rested, use a fork to fluff and separate the grains.

Season the sea bass with salt and pepper.

In a large saute pan over medium heat, add the coconut oil and heat the oil to a slight smoke. Add 1 sprig of fresh thyme to the saute pan and sear the sea bass skin side down for 3/4 of the cooking time about 7 minutes. This will give the fish a nice crisp skin and golden color. Carefully turn the fish over, to finish the other side. Remove the sea bass and hold in a warm place.

In a mixing bowl, add the diced mango, purple onion, cilantro, tomatoes, jalapeño, lime juice and salt and mix together.

Plate your ingredients with 1/2 cup cooked quinoa, sea bass and mango salsa on top (roughly, 1/4 cup.)

PPBoyz of Beverly Hills Visit Ireland!

PPBoyz of Beverly Hills Visit Ireland!

Our fascinations with the green country began as a child with the breakfast cereal “Lucky Charms” and the commercials of the leprechaun chasing the pot o’ gold. It continued into adulthood with the blockbuster movies “PS, I Love You” and “Leap Year.” Ireland quickly rose to the top of our bucket list of a place we had to visit.

Ireland PP Boyz Travel 4Chion Lifestyle a

Ireland PP Boyz Travel 4Chion Lifestyle a
PP Boyz Visit Ireland

Our journey began with a quick stop in Dublin, so we could explore the old world charm of this capital city. We selected a hotel in the main area of Stephen’s Green, which placed us in the heart of the districts, renowned for shopping, fashion, art, culture, theater and of course we can not forget, the infamous pubs, each with its own eclectic personality. Our hotel and suite were immersed with charm and character neatly tucked away on the famed Grafton Street.

Ireland PP Boyz Travel 4Chion Lifestyle e
PP Boyz Visit Ireland

We spent the afternoon strolling in the Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre, an outdoor/indoor high-end shopping area, which is complete with every international fashion brand and an area with historic pubs, where locals and tourist venture out to find the perfect Guinness. We celebrated our arrival that night with a traditional Irish dinner at The Old Mill, in the cultural center, known as the infamous Temple Bar. This area is visited daily by millions of tourists and when you have made it here, you feel the pulse of Dublin. Our meal consisted of fish and chips and lamb shank, recommended by the chef, as our way to taste the real Ireland.

The next morning we awoke early to visit the Saint Patrick’s Cathedral on our way out of Dublin and off to the Rock of Dunamase Castle. The sunrise was stunning and captured the essence of the cathedral, despite our small mishaps navigating our selfie stick.

The Rock of Dunamase are ruins that were highlighted in the movie “Leap Year” and so we wanted to explore their history. Located just outside Portlaoise and about a 3-hour drive from Dublin, is one of Ireland’s most inspiring spots, yet not often traveled to by tourists. The Rock of Dunamase consists of the ruins of what used to be Dunamase Castle. We hiked up to the top and took in the spectacular views of the lush green fields and the Slieve Bloom Mountains in the distance. If there’s anything that makes the Irish countryside even more beautiful, it is the jagged bits of the castle rising out of the ground. We visited the church at the foot of the castle ruins and then continued our journey onward.

Later that day, we arrived at our final destination for our trip to Ireland, Belleek Castle. Our first glimpse of the castle was driving into thousand-year-old guard gate, miles outside the entrance, which at one time in history surrounded the village. Upon entering the long drive to the front of the castle, we were transported to an enchanted forest that surrounds the magnificent grounds. Driving through the woods you can’t help but hear the mysterious sounds and imagine the years of soldiers, royal successions and loyal subjects that had one time traveled this same path to the imposing front lawn and entrance to Belleek Castle.

Upon our arrival, we were given the royal treatment, greeted with a red carpet and a champagne toast by our lovely host and hostess, Paul Doran and Maya Nicoleva , along with an itinerary of activities fit for a king.; actually two kings! As members of the staff at the castle organized our suite, we quickly changed into our hunting gear and were escorted to the bogs on the other side of the property with our personal hunting companion, the castle’s very own, Reece, a beautiful, German short-haired Pointer and Paul, who guided us through the many obstacles of the bog, and continued to help us hunt for woodcock and Snipe.

The next morning we ventured out early, driving through the lush, green countryside, on our way to Downpatrick Head. One of the most distinctive features of Ireland are the unique and breathtaking cliffs that protect the country from the sea, and at one time from the enemy propelled to attack. The elements of the wind and water have created their unique mark embedded in the ominous cliffs that surround the Island. In an instant, you are so high above the powerful waves crashing upon the cliffs below you that feel as if you are touching the sky.

Persistance to Look Forward ~ Jackson Thomas Carey

Persistance to Look Forward ~ Jackson Thomas Carey

Jackson Thomas Carey, the producer at The Motive Productions, brings beats to the world of music. Carey began musical training as a young child and quickly found recreating the musical sounds rewarding. His motivation to continue forward with focus and perseverance.

Jackson Thomas Carey The Motive Productions
The Motive Productions

His musical training directed him to the world of recreating musical instruments a true talent. Carey took his raw talent to these creations. His motivation lead him to work in studios as an intern. He was able to learn and grow his raw talent. This training and talent lead to recreating instrumentals for hip hop. He starts with the beat and layers with synthesizers and drums.

Carey believes that perseverance is the key to success with everything. Knowledge of a better life and a stronger future makes this possible. Knowing a real low point in life makes perseverance steadfastness in doing something despite delaying success.

He knows real struggles and low points in life. Five years ago he began a spiral down with the use of opioid pain pills prescriptions from other people’s scripts. His drug use turned from use of other’s prescriptions to heroin. This turn moved him to a time of selfishness and a life of blinders, not seeing the big picture. He looked only for his next fix and that was the focus of his life. Took his drug abuse to overdosing several times.

Soon Carey released that he was being selfish with his drug use.  The journey to take back his life he realized that he was really being a baby about life. That his expectation in life was other’s were to help and do for him. He took the time to conclude he wanted to be a man.

Support came from his family. They took the time to love him but remained strict with their expectations and rules. This turn allowed for Carey to turn the switch back on. He started to see the way and the light.

Jackson Thomas Carey The Motive Production Best Way to Health
Jackson Thomas Carey

This time he really is excited about the person he is. This discovery came through self-discovery. Many close to him are seeing his true self-return again.  The most important message for him is that he needed to do this for himself. “Drug use is very focused on the moment, the now, Carey says. He learned that he lost a huge chunk of time.”

“Time is rare,” Carey states, “As a child time has no meaning. As an adult time is precious and how much it takes each day to get everything done.” His favorite hip-hop artists include A Tribe Called Quest and The Pharcyde. His interest and talent returned with the new direction and focus in his life. He is again creating beats for musicians. This business started with interest from hip-hop artists hearing his beats and purchasing them.

Carey starts each day with plenty of water and a to-do list. His list consists of ten items to focus on. His works to complete each item each day. He will allow one item to move forward if necessary, but this allows him the motivation to stay focused and persevere.
