Wethor takes each day doing what she loves. She states, “2 weeks after my diagnosis I decided that modeling and acting are what I am doing with my life. I moved to Los Angeles and went full force. Before I knew it I was signed with an agent and manager.” She embraced the 8% living for 6 months with this diagnosis to the maximum. This decision and diagnosis took place two years ago. She focuses her goals, life, and mind on living each day.

Embracing each day and taking charge of her health she has accomplished:

These opportunities give Wethor a place to share her story. She embraces the idea that we are all living good days, bad days, and hard days. Wethor says, “I am three different people. There is sick Grace, there is normal teenage Grace, and model/actress Grace. I have found the perfect balance that works.” This balance is giving Wethor a life that is full and touching.

She wants everyone to know that no matter your situation you can live life to the fullest. She has been able to share her story of life living with a brain tumor, sharing her talents, and joining forces with Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation.

Wethor took the ability to live life to the fullest by asking herself what do I want from life. She has made those dreams come true through continued medical care, headaches, and other side effects. Wethor forges through all this with strength, determination, and a wonderful mother who listens to her dreams. Wethor will keep embracing her dreams and making a positive impact in the world.

The Hidden Side ~ Allegoria

The Hidden Side ~ Allegoria

Allegoria LJFFF 4Chion Lifestyle
Allegoria Fashion Film Photo Credit LJIFFF

Allegoria directed by Ines von Bonhorst, she is a director, producer, and video artist. Her work includes documentaries, long and short films, experimental films and video art installations, worldwide. Yuri Pirondi work reflects a relationship between visual art and cinematic experience. He Follows a multidisciplinary and transversal artistic direction in which he collaborates with different artists. This couple’s talents combine creating Allegoria, a short fashion film, screened at La Jolla Fashion Film Festival.

Allegoria Synopsis: A fashion short film based on the subconscious side of the human affections.

  • The film is about the subconscious side of the human affections. How does this film connect to fashion?

Usually, fashion is all about our external shell, how we appear, how we look to other people. Our idea instead is to take out our hidden side and show it in a shape of cinematic emotion, where our main character is fighting against her doppelgänger.

As the movie developed, also the dress does. From a tight look that constraint the actress in the beginning of the movie, slowly our character reaches her freedom, as well as the clothes, became light and soft.

The ideas behind the look of our actress are from our great stylist Daniela Corcio, also the designer of IKONOSTAS, the dresses used in the video.

  • How does location play into the subconscious side of the human affections?

The location in our video is a middle-age castle based in North Italy. By itself a castle is like a fort, this metaphor; the castle represents the mood of our main character. When she finally manages to be herself, she runs away from the castle, in other terms the location work as a main element in the movie.

  • What is the one thing you do each day to make it successful?

Keep creating. Keep doing movies! Working hard every day, and always have a new project in mind to develop it!

  • What is your background in film and direction?

As a couple, we have 2 different backgrounds. Ines has a sharp eye on working with actors and editing, developed during the years. Yuri instead has a background more focus on the photography and mise-en-scene. We are definitely complementary in our job!

  • What is your insight into women in film creation, with 7.5% being directed by women (Women In Film)?

As the woman co-director, I can describe my own feelings and thoughts and try to trespass those same moods to film and acting.

The majority of women pass from different period and moods and I think there is no one better than other women to speak about that same feeling.

The statistics are low but I have an optimist view where the numbers are getting higher, at the moment there are much more women studying film and I think the statistics will change in a near future.

  • What is one way that we can support women created films as a participant in films?

I think the best way is to work hard every day and try to create your own identity, as a woman and as an individual. In my opinion, anyone that insists and works hard for what they want, in one way or another they end up reaching their goals. Unfortunately as a woman, a majority of the times, you have to do it even harder. The way to support women in films is to include more female characters and try to understand their point of views.

  • When creating this film what was the advantage of being a short film?

The main advantages to making a short are the low costs of production and the short time to make the movie, so you can have a product in your hand in few days of work. We would love to work on a feature movie instead, where you can have plenty of time to develop story and characters.

  • Subconscious and surrealism is a theme through out your films how did you mix this with Allegoria?

Yes, we usually work with surrealist images, in the case of Allegoria we worked on the idea of doppelgänger effect, where our main character talk with her double to discover her persona and finally be free from her self-judgment.

  • What are other locations this film will be screening?

The movie aside La Jolla Fashion Film Festival has been shown at the Canadian Fashion Film Festival in Calgary, and also is trying to participate at Milano Fashion Film Festival, Istanbul, Brussels, London, and Porto.

The film takes fashion full circle with the concept of what is real and not real, similar to the Allegory of The Cave by Plato.

Laura Ricciardi & Moira Demos ~ “Making Of A Murderer”

Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos Emmy’s Creative Arts 2016

Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos joins us on the red carpet at the Emmy® Creative Arts Awards. The duo took the evening by storm with their documentary Making of a Murderer on Netflix.

This 10-hour series took 10 years from a conception during film school to airing on Netflix. The story needs time to be told correctly and accurately. The couple moved from New York to Wisconsin for two years. This provided a time for them to research, gain trust about telling the story, and immerse in the story.

They took the story from criminal justice, a victim point of view, to the criminal point of view. The ability for the subjects to trust the duo to share their story accurately made the documentary successful. This documentary is a social justice story instead of criminal justice.

They share the documentary providing a voice, engagement, and conversation that is global. There is an online petition sent to President Obama requesting Steven Avery be exonerated.

They discuss that the documentary is not to solve the crime but to tell the story of Steve Avery, his family, and the community. They said, “we welcome anyone to research the story. It is all public record.”

and Moira Demos Emmys 4Chion Marketing
Emmy’s Creative Arts 2016 Red Carpet

Ricciardi states, “It took some time to get through the noise after the series aired, we are focused on the goal.” They will be returning with season two. The story continues to have questions.

Demos states, “The story continues to evolve. We continue to follow the events taking place. It is not over.” They are working on a project from HuffPost article, America’s Most Admired Lawbreaker.

Ricciardi and Demos work together on filming, concept, production, editing, and a partnership to air the series. The team has grown and they are deeply grateful for them.

The success each day they said, “came from the story and the focus to tell the facts.” Ricciardi states, “The lesson best learned is that we need to have more empathy and dignity towards each other.”

Making of A Murderer awarded the 4 Emmys® at The Creative Arts for Outstanding Picture Editing For Nonfiction Programming, Outstanding Directing For Nonfiction Programming, Outstanding Writing for Nonfiction Programming, Outstanding Writing for Nonfiction Programming, and Outstanding Documentary Or Nonfiction Series.

Emmys® Creative Arts 2016 Red Carpet

Kether Donohue joins us on the red carpet at the Emmys® Creative Arts Awards. She comes with a strong background in television, theater, and film. She is an actress, producer, director, and writer. Her performance in Grease Live as Jan provides comic relief.

Donohue embraced her career from an early age growing up in New York. She attended a performing arts high school and graduated from Fordham University with a concentration in film. This training prepared her for each role she has undertaken.

Taking on the iconic role Jan in Grease Live took some time to create the character into a new modern role while capturing Jan’s essence. Donohue states, “The directors provided an atmosphere for me to explore, make mistakes, and hone in on the character for this production.” This allows for Jan to come to life for a new generation.

Her career has spanned decades. She has worked with theater allowing for her to interact with the audience and crew during a performance. She moved on to voice-over work. This took some time to get used to being alone in a room during a performance. Each role has provided insight to her next performance.

Her beauty in a Vivienne Westwood corset cocktail dress and Prada shoes grace the runway, but her intellect and passion to each role she embraces were clearly demonstrated. She is in You’re the Worst on FX Networks.

Grease Live awarded 5 Emmys® for Outstanding Lighting Design Lighting Direction For A Variety Special, Outstanding Technical Direction, Camerawork, video control for a limited series, movie, or special, Outstanding Special Class Program, Outstanding Directing A Variety Special, and Outstanding Production Design For A Variety Nonfiction Event Or Award Special.

She joined Vanessa Hudgens and Julianne Hough on the red carpet, her co-stars.

Dancing With Comedic Timing ~ Kathryn Burns

Dancing With Comedic Timing ~ Kathryn Burns

Kat Burns Kathryn Emmys Red Carpet 4Chion Marketing
Kathryn Burns Emmy’s Creative Arts 2016 Red Carpet

Kathryn Burns (Kat) joins us on the red carpet at the Emmys® Creative Arts Awards. She danced her way to an Emmys® for Outstanding Choreography in My Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. She is the first choreographer nominated working with a scripted series.

Joining her for the evening was her gorgeous mother and father. It is an exciting evening and red carpet for the family. Her family plays a large role in her dance career. She began dancing from her older sister’s influence.

Burns dance training includes tap, ballet, contemporary, but her passion is hip-hop. After college, she moved to Hollywood. She was her dream was a backup dancer but released she was too tall and white.

Kathryn turned her attention to comedy. This was not as successful as she envisioned. This left her feeling a little in between dance and comedy. One day someone asked her about dancing when she was doing comedy. She said, “I am a trained dancer.” This question changed her world.

This opens doors to use her comedic training and dance to choreographing for the scripted comedy. She continues to work at Upright Citizens Brigade Theater, presenting live comedy. Improv, sketch, and stand-up.  She has enjoyed being here for over 10 years.

The challenges with choreography with a written script are working with people who may not have formal training, working within the set, characters, script, and camera angles, while meeting comedic timing. Kathryn said, “It is such an honor and humbling experience being recognized by my peers in dance.”

Crazy Ex-Girlfriendawarded one Emmys® Creative Arts for Outstanding Choreography 2016.

Daniel Chimowitz Art Hearts Fashion Week Front Row Red Carpet 4Chion Lifestyle
Daniel Chimowitz Art Hearts Fashion Week

This year we are partnering with Nevow fashion design for the La Jolla Fashion Film Festival. Daniel Chimowitz, Nevow’s designer, designs Saturday evening red carpet gown. Artist Chimowitz creates walking canvases of painted textiles and upcycled clothing.

Daniel Chimowitz Artist

He is a mix medium artist, an American Fashion and Textile Designer. His intent is bringing art from Galleries and Museums to the street, as a form of Walking Art.

Chimowitz is also known for his painted prints and photography. This will be a perfect look for this fashion film festival. His intent is to bring art from Galleries and Museums to the street, as a form of Walking Art.

Daniel Chimowitz Childhood

Born of Lesbians in London but raised in San Francisco, Chimowitzspent many summers in Europe, mainly London and the Basque Country in Spain. He was exposed to the 70’s & 80’s London punk scene along with the flashier men’s style of the Matadors. His second mother is Tlingit, a Native American from Alaska under the Inuit umbrella of cultural influence. At home he was surrounded by Inuit imagery; the simple lines of the Inuit art are calming and the detail stood out more than any other art he studied.

Chimowitz was raised among the LGBT community, a child of The Castro, which shapes his ideas of fashion and the use of colors and imagery. In his textiles, colors are combined with the punk DIY fashion of London, studs from Spain, and simplistic triangles and circles as the focal point.

Daniel Chimowitz Fashion

Chimowitz has studied fashion across cultures and time, and strives to give men a chance to feel like an Emperor and for women to be the Empress.
