Winter time always brings a new set of challenges for your hands and feet care. The air is dryer and many times your hands and feet become dry. Heels often crack during the winter months. This is the time to take care of your hands and feet to prevent infections and dry skin.

There are many ways to keep your hands and feet luxurious and beautiful. The following are a few steps to keep your skin protected (this is your body’s largest organ):

  • Cleaning chores wear gloves to protect your skin from chemicals. This prevents drying and burns.
    • Surgical gloves work well and are disposable to protect against germs with reuse
    • Wash hands well after cleaning
    • When completed with chores take a few moments to rub a good lotion into your hands, fingers, and cuticle. We recommend Heaven to Earth (H2E) Spa Collection Coconut Lime Verbena. It is an office favorite.
  • Bath time at bath time use olive oil before your bath. This will seal moisture in your hands and feet. Right after your bath make sure to the moisturizer with a good lotion to seal in moisture. Coconut oil has essential vitamin oils leaving your radiant silky skin creating harmony and replenishment to the body.
  • Gloves wearing gloves prevent the need for using sanitizer when in public as well as keeping the cold dry air from your hands. Use cotton gloves at night. Moisture your hands with Burt’s Bees Almond Milk Hand Cream and wear with gloves during the night.
  • Scrub using a nice sugar scrub with coconut oil will help exfoliate the top layer of skin and opens the pores. Gently rub the sugar scrub in a circular motion and rinse with lukewarm water.
  • Manicure and Pedicure keeping up on your manicure and pedicures during the winter months. This will keep your heels and cuticle healthy. Always a fun nail color for the holidays is fabulous. This year Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show had many moments to cherish and a few to anguish over. The runway filmed last week in Shanghai China and aired on CBS a week later filled with the latest lingerie creations by Olivier Rousteing, creative director and collaboration of Balmain. He took a hard edge in some of the fashion while others were goddess feeling.

The fashion show brings top models and celebrities to an exotic location to present the best Victoria’s Secret has to offer in the upcoming year. It is a great holiday gift for any person on your list. This season the runway had the following looks:

  • Punk Angel: Inspired by the spirit of the 1980’s Punk scene this Collection features leather, lace, metal, tartan, fishnets, and leopard prints.
  • Porcelain Angel: Seaside vibes from the shores of the Mediterranean and South of France. The girls are modern, young, sexy.
  • A Winter’s Tales: An angel’s snowy fairytale featuring bold, colorful elements borrowed from Finland’s Lapland.
  • Millennial Nation (Pink): Fresh, fun, sexy.
  • Goddesses: Fragile, ethereal and feminine. Transparent, diaphanous fabrics draped to create soft and slow movement, the effect of being underwater.
  • Nomadic Adventure: Prints, silhouettes and beading techniques inspired by indigenous African cultures.

The evening filled with beauty, entertainment, and sexy fashion. The styling was very similar throughout the collections. Soft waves, light makeup for a very feminine feel. The looks included:

Backstage Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show

This year’s fantasy bra was feminine and elegant.  It is included in the Champagne Nights collection. It took almost 350 hours to create and embellished with nearly 6,000 precious gemstones.(Victoria’s Secret)”  The bra creation is by world-renowned jeweler Mouawad.  This 2 million dollar bra is handset with diamonds, yellow sapphires, and blue topaz worn by Lais Ribeiro for the famous runway.

The models walked the runway serenaded Harry Styles, Miguel, Jane Zhang, Leslie Odom Jr. and Yundi Li. The performance list was missing Katy Perry who had Visa issues.

Gigi Hadid, Victoria’s Secret model was not on the runway due to Visa issues as well. Alessandra Ambrosio closes out the runway and it is very fitting as this is her last runway show with Victoria’s Secret angels.

This year’s runway did have a slip and fall that did air on CBS during the show. Ming Xi, came down the runway waving her hands in the air, encouraging the audience to get louder. She is happy to walk in front of her family and hometown crowd. Her heel caught in her skirt, and she fell to the ground. Xi gathered her gigantic flowered costume and tried to recover, Brazilian model Gizele Oliveira assisted with getting her back on her feet. Xi gracefully completed the runway and pose.

The runway was a night of fantasy, sexy, and beauty. The collections a little edgy and fun with a soft feminine goddess look.

Preventing drying of your hair and scalp is a challenge during winter. Hydration is key in the dry winter months. Keeping hydrated will prevent drying hair, skin (even the scalp). Maily O’Neil, the owner of Mai Salon, states, “Hairstyles that do not require any hot tools are:

  • Embracing your natural curl
  • For styling, use a larger comb to comb or with fingers, and damp set with bobby pins.

Limiting your use of drying hair styling products (hair dryer, flat or curling iron) can help with preventing damage to your hair.

Continue keeping your hair trimmed during the winter months to keep hair healthy looking. This keeps the dry and damaged ends from splitting.

Deep condition weekly and limiting hair washing will keep hair healthy and easier to manage. Using a shampoo specifically for the season or your hair type is key to success. O’Neil says, “using the right shampoo, conditioner and moisturizer product to enhance and set the curls naturally.” It is important to remember to not leave the house with your hair wet. O’Neil recommends, “Controlling frizzy hair needs humidifying products which attract moisture to control frizz.” Invest in a humidifier to control this frizz. This will add moisture back to your office or home atmosphere. When running the heater it does dry the air. This will prevent frizzy hair often found in the winter months. It also keeps your skin moist and less dry feeling.

Rihanna hit the Met Gala red carpet wearing Comme des Garçons fall winter 2016 collection. This gown is three-dimensional floral print. She wore Dsquared2 lace-up sandals, Dvani, and Le Vain jewels, and tourmaline and black diamond earrings from her “Rihanna Loves Chopard.” Her hair was in a top bun with long bans and neon blush. Rihanna kept up her reputation on the Met Gala red carpet while staying true to the theme for the evening.

Nicki Minaj hit theMet Gala red carpet honoring iconic designer wearing a belt with Rei Kawakubo‘s face on the front. Her kimono gown by H&M has thigh and cleavage for a beautifully sexy look, Versace black platform shoes. Her jewels from Dvani, Mattia Cielo, L’Dezen by Payal Shah, and Hearts On Fire are an exceptional finishing avant-garde touch. The snake ring by Lydia Courteille was an eye-catcher. She completed the look with red lips and fingernails. The gown graced the long staircase with beautiful black roses and red beaded flowing train. What a grand entrance.

TheMet Gala evening continued with great entrances by many celebrities. Katy Perry, co-hosting the evening event, wore Maison Margiela‘s original. Families made their appearance on the red carpet. Courtney Love and Frances Bean Cobain, mother, and daughter, truly enjoyed the event together. The Olsen Twins grace the red carpet in a rare public appearance. Their style for the evening early 1900s bohemian look a shift from the Met Gala theme.

This was the first time since 1983 theMet Gala honored a living designer. Comme des Garcons, founded and designed by Rei Kawakubo, are displaying at The Metropolitan Museum in New York through the fall. This fashion label is a Japanese fashion label meaning “like boys” in French. Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of Vogue, the chairwoman of the Met Gala. She has transformed this event from local to a powerful celebrity philanthropic evening.  The night lived up to all the expectations.

Floral carry over from the winter trends. Many designers like Tadashi Shoji present appliquéd floral, while Christian Siriano presents a beautiful floral print in his collection. There is a variety of floral this season winter trend was roses. The trend on sleeves continues with a flair. The straps on many looks on the runway have ties or embellishments added to them. The sleeve trends include adding texture to the sleeves.

Desigual presented a runway that was more drama, acting, and dancing. Watching the show it was easy to forget this was a fashion show.  The runway look and styling very ethereal, bold colors, with a jungle feel.  The collection uses geometric shapes trend. This is the first show under creative director Jean-Paul Goude. The runway collection is full of multicultural diversity and fun.

As the snow falls in New York City designers, models, and buyers gather for fall-winter 2017 collections. The runways fill with floral prints, tweed, variations on sleeves, and a little shoulder.

Winter fashion will be beautiful roses in print and embroidery, plaids, and prints. Tadashi Shoji‘s collection presents sheer flowing rose printed gown with a romantic feel. Tadashi Shoji’s collection stays true to his design aesthetics, that tailored to flatter all women adding a confidence and beauty to their fashion.

Adam Selman’s collection is full of the rose trend for fall-winter with embroidered roses. Denim jumpsuits, jackets, and skirts. Adam Selman’s brings a surprise element down the runway. One model with a black veil draping her face carrying a large bouquet of roses and greenery.

Desigual, a brand from Barcelona,  brings the ordinary to unique extraordinary with the prints. The intense combination geometric shapes and stories telling prints. This collection brings emotion and a true sensory experience to the collection.

Many collections bring a little shoulder to the winter collections. This adds a nice sex appeal to the designs. Nicholas K is a designed by brothers, Nicholas and Christopher Knuz, they give a soft chic splendid richness to their collection.

Erin Fetherston’s fall-winter collection brings the cold shoulder to the front of the collection. The cocktail dresses and gowns have a 1970s retrospect.
