Lady Gaga and Liza Minnelli 94th Oscars, Academy Awards
Lady Gaga and Liza Minnelli present the Oscar® for Best Picture

94th Oscars® Awards Ceremony

The 94th Oscars® Awards evening presenters honored the films from the past that change our culture, perspective, and brought forward struggles in life. The most inspiring moment of the 94th Oscars® Awards evening is Minnelli and Gaga’s interactions. The grace and beauty of two women supporting and sustaining generations disappeared and it is the true nature of humanity. Gaga reassures Minnelli as she appears unsure. Gaga states, “I got you.”

Regina Hall, Amy Schumer and Wanda Sykes brings the hostess role back to the 94th Oscars® Awards with laughter and style. It is great having the normalcy return. The night filled with glamour, beauty, and remembrance.

Red Carpet

A full red carpet of fashion, friends, and people uniting is seen for miles. You can see the full read carpet looks here. The colors look like a spring meadow. The pastels, blush, bright colors, and texture is refreshing and renewing.

A few of the favorites on the red carpet are:

  • Reece Fledman with his pink jacket, sunglasses, and cropped pants.
  • Wesley Snipes brings the hope of summer with a monochromatic suit that is shorts.
  • Simu Liu looks sharp in Versace (personally dressed by Donatella Versace) wearing an Omega watch.
  • David Oyelowo love the fashion forward prints and bold colors.
  • Mila Kunis wearing a Zuhair Murad silk rose colored ruched bodice.
  • Diane Warren sure she is wearing her lucky socks with her bright green suite and beatbox handbag
  • Tiffany Haddish elegant in her custom Dolce & Gabbana gown and Pomellato jewels.
  • Ariana DeBose in Valentino red pant suit and diamonds.

Governors Ball

The evening concluded with at the Governors Ball at Hollywood and Highlands. Wolfgang Puck and Ghetto Gastro’s prepare many of the traditions and brining masterfully blended influences from the African diaspora, global South ingredients and hip-hop to create offerings that address race, identity and economic empowerment.

Chocoloate Bark Oscar Governors Ball 2022 4Chion Lifestyle
CHOCOLATE BARK

CHOCOLATE BARK

Yield: Serves 16 Recipe courtesy Wolfgang Puck Catering

INGREDIENTS
  • 1 pound dark chocolate (64 to 70 percent cocoa content), coarsely chopped
  • 1/4 cup roasted pecan halves
  • 1/4 cup coarsely chopped roasted macadamia nuts
  • 1/4 cup roasted shelled pistachio nuts
  • 1/4 cup roasted shelled sunflower seeds
  • 1/4 cup dried cherries
  • 1/4 cup chopped dried apricots
INSTRUCTIONS

If you start with raw shelled nuts, put them in a single layer in a baking pan and roast them in a preheated 350°F oven until golden, about 6 minutes; then remove them from the oven and cool to room temperature before making the bark.

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Put the chopped chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl. Put the bowl in the microwave, set the power level to medium, and microwave for 20 seconds. Stir the chocolate with a rubber spatula and, if not smoothly melted, microwave again for 20 seconds longer. Continue only until the chocolate is smooth. Spread the melted chocolate on the parchment-lined baking sheet to a thickness of 1/4 inch. (It’s okay if the edges of the spread-out chocolate aren’t neat, since you’ll be breaking it up.) Immediately sprinkle the pecans, macadamias, pistachios, sunflower seeds, cherries, and apricots over the still-melted chocolate. Leave the chocolate to set until solid, about 20 minutes at cool room temperature or 5 to 10 minutes in the refrigerator. Break the chocolate into rough serving pieces and store in a covered container at cool room temperature until serving time

‘House of Gucci’ ~ For Love

‘House of Gucci’ ~ For Love

House of Gucci is for love. The love of what is left to the audience to determine. Was the love of money the downfall or the loss of true love that destroyed Patrizia Reggiani?

House of Gucci Synopsis

The film has so ingredients from Oscar nominated actors, to the Gucci history of fashion and power, and love; lovers, family, and money .

Ridley Scott’s, director of House of Gucci, is a thrilling exploration of three decades in the tangled history of the multi-generational Gucci family, a tale of ambition, greed, betrayal and murder. The film shows Scott’s energy, multi-camera use, and spontaneity.

House of Gucci

You are drawn in to Patrizia, played by Lady Gaga, power, determination, and strength. A woman who goes with her heart and falls deeply in love with Maurizio, played by Adam Driver. The moment the two meet at the party Maurizio introduces himself to Patrizia there is just a moment where you catch glimpse that Patrizia is very familiar with the name Gucci. As the story continues this moment leave one wondering did she really fall in love with him or the money.

The fashion is endless and timeless. The wealth and power of this family is felt represented in the film. The ability to create the sweet dream of Gucci while telling the story of murder. The story of loss and change.

Patrizia slowly losses. Gaga states at the London Premiere, “You watch the unraveling of a woman that only women can understand in a way when it comes to her.” The unraveling takes the power and strength Patrizia has away. The characteristics that Maurizio fell in love with.

As time goes by Patrizia is left abandoned and no longer matter, she begins unraveling. This appears to be that she has lost the love of her life, but then the moment when they meet I ask myself is it the money and power she losses in the end of her marriage that drives her to murder?

Maurizio changes from the man who knows the evils of luxury and wealth, the man who wanted to get away from the family business to be more himself to one craving and embracing the wealth. He falls in love twice in the film but still seems to be lost in himself.

Patrizia states in the film, “I am not a particularly ethical person but I am fair.” Did she love Maurizio or the Gucci money and power? I am still left wondering myself if she truly found the love of her life or the money of her dreams.

Le Vian ~ Positivity Love and Resilience

Le Vian ~ Positivity Love and Resilience

Le Vian presents their upcoming jewelry for the year with positivity, love, and resilience. This is just in time for fashion week, holiday events and gift giving, and red carpet award season. A favorite is jewelry and the ability to create a spark and look that is yours alone.

Le Vian 2021 Trends

Positivity, Love, and Resilience

This is an exciting time after a year of Covid. The message from Le Vian is:

  • Positivity inspiration is the sunshine and its various iterations, alluding to sunny days ahead.
  • Resilience comes in the form of an increasingly popular metal, platinum, which becomes tougher with every knock, a notion now so apt and strengthening.
  • Love is reinventing of colors di,amonds, gems, and gold to create the various collections. The real love is the continued spirit of contributing to charity.

Le Vian 2021 Trends

Le Vian History

This family owned company for centuries includes their customers and collectors. They are part of the family. Being a family business allows for them to continue with their ability to invest in innovation, take care of their collectors like members of the family, and do things no other jewelry company does. The sense of integrity, responsibility, giving back, and a passion that has lasted through the generations

Their history dates back to 1746, when the Persian ruler Nadir Shah chose the Levian family to be the guardian of the jewels he’d plundered in Asia. The family has continued after each generation to remain innovative and relevant. Le Vian seen often on celebrities, over 300 times each year at various events with the PR firm D’Orazio & Associates. Celebrities must purchase the jewelry. They do not give celebrities the jewelry for the event.

Le Vian Charity Spirit

The strong presence of Le Vian as a company that continues to make a difference in the world. The event in Las Vegas the charity donations are around $1,000,000 for this event alone. The charities they support include Children, St Jude’s Hospital, Le Vian’s Rafa Foundation the company has a variety of causes, including supporting local communities, medical charities, and building schools in the areas where there are diamonds mines. They contribute 10% all earnings before taxes to charity.

The last live event held before the pandemic in 2019, a waiter, a single father at the event moved by the fundraising he pledged $200 of his money on the spot. This then also inspired a billionaire in the room to up his own donation by a handsome 6 figure sum.

Le Vian Trends

The evening includes encapsulating the trends with a red carpet event. This is a large production event similar to the award shows. Here are a few trends from the catwalk fundraiser in Las Vegas.

Love Trend

Love their recent collective experience is a push to seize every opportunity to express our love to those we hold dear. The heart shape as a symbol of their affection in bold style. The love collection is a beautiful collection to remind the wearer how much love they have in their life.

Elephant Trend

The icon of the year is the elephant. This piece symbolizes the Le Vian family’s appointment as the guardians of the royal jewels of Persia in 1746. There is a great deal of lore across a myriad of cultures regarding the elephant. The trunk can bring energy, good fortune, or luck.

Platinum Trend

This is a favorite! Platinum is one that represents resilience. The ability to continue to gain brightness and strength with each wear. Platinum use is with precious stones, like diamonds. This is great to keep going and become stronger with determination.

Authenticity Trend

Authenticity stone is peacock aquaprase. This is a semi-translucent natural beauty gem. Each piece is unique from the rest. The creates the sense of passion, accepting, and continued learning.

Pearl Trend

This is another favorite. I give my granddaughters pearls (fake at first) and they are my pearl girls. They get a set of pearls when turning 16, like their mother. They are classic and precious. The collection represents wisdom regarding our recent experience of reflection and hope. These come vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, and honey.

Obsession Trend

The chocolate diamond is the obsession collection. The 20-year anniversary diamond was on hold after the mine closed. This is a great stone for obsession. The collection is a feeling of a child in a candy shop but with diamonds.

Statement Trend

Everyone needs a statement piece or two showcasing their personal style. Creating your statement piece can be combining several pieces. Le Vians statement trend is just that for men and women. The statement rings design is to offer flexibility in the expression of the wearer’s individuality.

Follow here for all the upcoming trends. This is the season for red carpets with VMAs tonight and Emmys® next two weekends. Post your favorite pieces or celebrity looks here

iDildo ~ Now You See Us

iDildo ~ Now You See Us

“iDildo does the trick and you don’t have to cook it food or wash its sock.” Romina Schwedler’s latest comedy short film about certain aged women feeling invisible and often misinterpreted. She uses light and comedy to carry a deeper message.

Barbara Miluski and Caroline Ryburn

Synopsis

Now You See Us is is “a coming of (a certain) age story” about two rival actresses played by Barbara Miluski and Caroline Ryburn. They are both auditioning for a part in a TV commercial. They begin to realize that they have more in common than just a rivalry.

Film Details

This 11-minute film brings the best of age discrimination and a lifelong rivalry full circle. The women find common ground in the idea that the one line in the commercial is the actress holding up a cell and stating, “I only use it in emergencies.” The cell phone begins the conversation about women of a certain age struggle with technology.

Caroline says, “I have an i-phone, i-pad, and an iDildo. It does the trick, you don’t have to cook for it, or wash its sock.” They both laugh at the idea that they had made large changes and sacrifices in their life. Even that iDildo is better than having someone around.

The walls break-down when they realize that they are being stereotyped for acting roles. “Boomers” no longer matter. They were the pitch to crowd, changing food, and fashion. They are invisible now.

Light and Comedy Use

The entire film is black and white adding a feel of age. The dimness of light in the waiting area adds to the tension of their rivalry. The loss of light brings the cell phone use in the time of an emergency adding to the humor. The end of the film light is used to bring awareness to the issues that these women are facing

The phases of the moon photos in the room where the audition is to take place clearly demonstrate the many phases of life the women this age experienced. This is a connecting piece that puts the rivalry to rest and they start sharing their impressions on being invisible.

Director Romina Schwedler

Romina was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She moved to New York to attend American Ballet School at 15. She followed in her parent’s footsteps (she is a director, actress, and singer) by becoming a filmmaker. Her film, The Visit, was screened at 47 film festivals including Prescott’s Film Festival. The film received 13 awards, 16 nominations, and 5 special mentions. Awards include Best Short Film, Best Overall Festival Film, and Best Director.
