“In a time when so many of us need an escape from the world, fashion is a great place to explore. For this collection I went back to a simpler time and looked to my past. I was inspired by the Italian women in my life. The old photographs of my grandmother in the 60’s and 70’s on holiday in Positano wearing her apricot orange dress inspired an Italian coastal collection filled with color and joy. I wanted it to feel powerful and strong but also romantic like any true Italian woman. Vintage lace appliques and signature dramatic silhouettes are shown throughout along with cascading evening gowns and sharp tailored suits. I hope this collection transports you like it did me and demonstrates that fashion remains to be both nostalgic but also hopeful for what is to come in the future.” – Christian Siriano

Escape From The World ~ Runway

This is the first shows of spring summer 2022. There is inclusive beauty on the runway He presents boldness, volume (SS22 trend), and denim. The beauty of the collection takes you from formal dinner party back to the office. This brings the energy and spirit felt before the pandemic.

Bold colors from lime green, vibrant yellow too bright orange bring a joy to the wearer and those around. The vintage appliques and lace bring the romance into the fashion. This collection is ready for the next great adventure in Italy, red carpet, or a cruise.

The evening wear is formal, bright, elegant, and ready to get out from the long year and half. Voluminous sleeves and skits are flirty and fun to play with. The fabric is reminiscent of red carpets past with metallic silks and tulle. The design brings forward a modern flair.

The finale of the show consists of a group of models exclusively revealing a variety of denim pieces from the upcoming collaboration between Christian Siriano and Gloria Vanderbilt Jeans. The presentation brings that need to go shopping for a great pair of denim.

Christian Siriano won the 4th season of Project Runway. He is also the award winning CFDA designer. Siriano launched his eponymous collection in 2008 following his studies in London under Vivienne Westwood and Alexander McQueen. In 2012, the first flagship Christian Siriano store opened in NYC and his latest retail venture, “The Curated NYC”, located in the heart of midtown.

Most recently Christian is heralded for leading the PPE charge during the COVID-19 pandemic. His atelier shifted entirely from clothes to masks and to date he and his team have shipped over one million masks to frontline workers in the New York area. 2020 also saw Siriano launch his own digital BRAVO talk show called “SO SIRIANO” which saw him break down all things fashion and pop culture with guests ranging from Drew Barrymore, Leslie Jones, Billy Porter, Ashley Graham, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Sia. Dream Angels will be spotlighting the fantasy bra this year. Victoria’s Secret (VS) Angel Elsa Hosk will be wearing the $1,000,000 bra this season in New York City.

Elsa Hosk is a 29 year old Swedish model. She did spend time playing basketball in Sweden. Her modeling career includes Dior, H&M, and Guess to name a few. Hosk began modeling at the age of 14 in Sweden. She moved to New York and signed with IMG Models. Her modeling with VS began in 2011. Hosk officially announced as an angel in 2015.

She is honored to wear this fantasy bra because of the glitz, shimmer, and shine. Her makeup will compliment the glamorous bra.

Creating the Fantasy Bra

This year’s fantasy bra is by Atelier Swarovski. It has 2,100 Swarovski Diamonds and topaz that is responsibly sourced. It is a sterling silver cage. The body chain is comprised of Topaz with the center stone being a pear shaped 2.03 carat Atelier Swarovski Created Diamond. This bra took 930 hours to create the hand set bra. It has over 71 carats.

This is tied with Claudia Schiffer’s fantasy bra in 1996 (the first year for the runway) for 1 million dollars. The most expensive fantasy bra is Gisele Bündchen 2000, Red Hot Fantasy Bra at $15 million.

This year, for the first time, a similar fantasy bra will be open for purchase on Nov. 29, 2018. It will have Swarovski crystals for $250 at select Victoria’s Secret locations.

This year the show is moving from CBS to ABC for network showing. New York is the perfect location for the runway. The night will be filled with angel wings that take 6-9 months to be hand-crafted.

This year Award-winning Designer Mary Katrantzou will present an exclusive (shoppable) collection premiere during the VS runway. “Everything that Victoria’s Secret creates is about a woman feeling confident and empowered—and also having fun with what she is wearing. This collaboration is going to be bold, fun and playful.” -Mary Katrantzou. This collection is an exceptional addition to the runway.

She did have a slip on the runway in Paris, but recaptured her balance and continued on with her strong walk. She demonstrated her strength as a fan tried to grab her in Milan, Italy. She proceeded to take matters into her own hands. Hadid co-hosted the American Music Awards (AMA) with Jay Pharoah.

One year ago she was working the challenges on America’s Next Top Models (ANTM). She’s dream was to appear on ANTM and work the runway. There was a height requirement in seasons past. She was just a little shy of the need for the last season. Tyra Banks saw something in the 5’5″ model.

House of Honee presents spring summer 2018 collection at Style Fashion Week in West Hollywood and on the USS Intrepid. This designer is one to keep an eye. Her talents bring art, awareness, and fashion together. This collection brings forward the genocide of the Khmer people and the fashion we create from animals.

House of Honee brings full styling and design to the inspiration for the spring-summer 2018 collection. Each runway piece is style specific to the clothing design. This collection continues to present an industrial design background to her runway collection. She incorporates this in her fashion. The material used for this collection are unconventional and materials creating sculptures.

Persona states, “The Killing Fields collection is about the genocide of the Khmer people, and of all the atrocities committed in the name of ethnic cleansing. We adorn ourselves with beautiful products that come from animals, like silkworms and sheep, etc.. And ingest them as food. Yet, we ourselves are the animals within who are capable of committing heinous acts for dominance and/or joy against the animals and our own kind. Let’s ask ourselves, who are the real animals?”

This collection continues with the brand identity of fashion, art, creativity, and philanthropy. It brings awareness about atrocities that take place in our world.

The collection looks at the layers of being comfortable in the skin we are in. “Since the beginning of time, we have made choices. Fashion is also a choice,” states Persona. She is a graduate of the Art Institute of California. This collection is Asian fusion with Kabuki styling. She created rope hair extensions weaved in the hair. This collection awarded best in hair and makeup at New York Fashion Week.

Persona brings an industrial design background to her runway collection. She incorporates this in her fashion. The material used for this collection are unconventional. She uses plastic chiffon. The material made from recycled plastic and turned into chiffon. She combines this with metals. The two unconventional materials create sculptures in the collection.

The collection is about identity and how deeply we express ourselves. The layers we choose to wear describes who we are at the moment. The menswear is a take on a super hero, inside is outside. The menswear is masculine and strong. We have to ask ourselves how do we express ourselves in the skin we are in.

Malan Breton, a fashion designer, brings a story in three chapters for fall-winter 2017. The chapters create a story that flows from New York Fashion Week, to London Fashion Week, and concludes in Los Angeles at Style Fashion Week. The collection brings a complete story from the chapters: Everywhere at the End of Time (New York), Living in the Moment in Fear (London), and Seven Deadly Sins (Los Angels).

The New York chapter is Everywhere at the End of Time. This chapter takes us to the current times in the world now and brings about empowerment. Empowering women and those being poorly treated. The entire show from the dancers, to the opening model, Nykhor Paul bring the story to life.

The runway included celebrities models: Kiera Chaplin (Charlie Chaplin’s granddaughter), Frankie Grande, Consuelo Vanderbilt Costin, Dylan Grieco, Mason Grammer, and Janine Tugonon. Each is a part is the weaving of the story about acceptance and hope.

Malan Breton London Fashion Week 4Chion Lifestyle — Malan Breton London Fashion Week

London’s show at Freemasons Hall continues the collections’ story. This chapter is living in the current time of fear and darkness. Taking the color away from you. The loss of color a strong presence on the runway. The opening fabric for this chapter looks like a second skin. The music for the runway is Sleepwalk by Santo & Johnny.

Los Angeles story chapter, the Seven Deadly Sins. This runway brings the story back to hope, light, and empowerment with the use of color. The Phoenix in the triplet chapter story.

The collections’ stories inspiration is the 1930s, the loss of hope and death. The stories draw from Charlie Chaplin‘s 1930 films including City Lights and Modern Times. The collections present the story with perfection in fabrics, treatments, performances, and colors.

The fabrics are Asian inspired. The fabrics are organzas, silk Charmeuse, and recycled piettes. The piettes created from recycled aluminum cans. Breton uses a company in Twain that cuts, colors, and treats the metal.

Breton says, “I do my best to protect the environment when creating my designs.” This metallic dress moments and texture are extraordinary. Breton states, “the dress movement comes from the way I weighted and draped the dress. I am so grateful it turned out so well.”

The color in this chapter is green (earth and rebirth), gold (prosperity and richness), and deep blue (continuous flow of life). The floral prints brings beauty and a new beginning to the final chapter of the story.

Breton’s chapters stay true to his aesthetics elegance. The men’s silhouettes are very on point. This collection Breton styled and designed himself. His stylist for several seasons, Montgomery Frazier The Image Guru, said, “we do not put anyone in anything that is ill-fitting. If it is ill-fitted they do not wear it. Being here with Breton is so glamorous at Style Fashion Week with the beautiful outdoor setting and jazz music.”

Breton develops his menswear after his own experience. He states, “when I was a ballet dancer in London and on Broadway every time I lifted my arm up when wearing a suit I would lose part of my sleeve. I knew I had to figure out how to cut a suit so I do not lose part of my sleeve. I trained at Turnbull And Asser, the suit makers for the Prince of Wales. He says, “I incorporate the English traditions in my designs. I learned there with my development for the men’s suits.”

The fashion show stayed true to the designers’ aesthetic while completing the story started in New York. The beauty, tailoring, and signature detailing tell the story of hope, equality, and empowerment. Concluding with the image of renewing and shining wherever you are.

Grace Wethor, a Teen Vogue® It Girl, joins us at La Jolla Fashion Film Festival. Her red carpet is a trend with magnificent sleeves. Wethor is gracious, talented, beautiful, and a brainstem Glioma tumor survivor.

Wethor takes each day doing what she loves. She states, “2 weeks after my diagnosis I decided that modeling and acting are what I am doing with my life. I moved to Los Angeles and went full force. Before I knew it I was signed with an agent and manager.” She embraced the 8% living for 6 months with this diagnosis to the maximum. This decision and diagnosis took place two years ago. She focuses her goals, life, and mind on living each day.

These opportunities give Wethor a place to share her story. She embraces the idea that we are all living good days, bad days, and hard days. Wethor says, “I am three different people. There is sick Grace, there is normal teenage Grace, and model/actress Grace. I have found the perfect balance that works.” This balance is giving Wethor a life that is full and touching.

She wants everyone to know that no matter your situation you can live life to the fullest. She has been able to share her story of life living with a brain tumor, sharing her talents, and joining forces with Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation.

Wethor took the ability to live life to the fullest by asking herself what do I want from life. She has made those dreams come true through continued medical care, headaches, and other side effects. Wethor forges through all this with strength, determination, and a wonderful mother who listens to her dreams. Wethor will keep embracing her dreams and making a positive impact in the world.
